SUBJECT: Santa Ana Heights Fire Station (Station 7)
One -Year Review of Operations (PA2007 -024)
RECOMMENDATION:
Receive the one -year review report of first year of operations of Station 7 to ensure the
station is operating in a manner consistent with the findings and conditions of approval
of Use Permit No. 2007 -003, and file.
DISCUSSION:
In March 2006, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2006 -9, approving Code
Amendment 2006 -002 adding the Fire Facility ( "FF ") Overlay District to the Santa Ana
Heights Specific Plan text, applying the overlay to the then - proposed fire station site. At
the March 14, 2006, City Council meeting, Council Member Daigle requested the use
permit for the development of the fire station and training facility include a condition that
a review be conducted after the first year of operations to ensure the community did not
have concerns regarding the facility.
Use Permit 2007 -003 was approved by the Planning Director on May 7, 2007.
Construction of the facility was completed in late September 2007. Fire Chief Lewis
canvassed all three shifts at Station 7 in September 2008, requesting a copy of all
reported complaints regarding the operations at the station. To date, there have not
been any recorded complaints from the community.
This concludes the one -year review of the operations of Station 7. If the City Council
would like to continue with annual reviews, staff will establish a schedule and bring this
item back for the next review in October 2009.
Environmental Review:
This is a review of the operations of Station 7. No environmental review is required.
