(wo- kuh- LIP -revs nik -KOE- lee -ere)
WILLOW-LEAFED PEPPERMINT
Myrtaceae
New South Wales and Queensland, Australia
The Willow - Leafed Peppermint is an attractive evergreen
tree which is useful in both private and commercial landscapes.
It grows quickly to 35 -50' tall and 15 -35' wide, with a dense, wil-
lowy foliage of narrow 3 -5" long bluish -green leaves that smell
like peppermint when crushed. Its strong trunk is also orna-
mental, with its rich reddish -brown furrowed bark. Although
the individual white flowers are small, they make a pretty effect
in late summer as they bloom.
The Willow- leafed Peppermint likes good drainage, is
drought - tolerant, and should not be overwatered. It is quite
cold - hardy, tolerating temperatures down to 15 "F. As a garden
or a street tree, its graceful form is dependably attractive, and its
water- saving advantages should not be overlooked. Q66
➢ Hardiness 36 -48 ft
➢ Form and Size 15 -36 ft
➢ Leaves and Bark — Narrow, 3 -5 inches long, light
green leaves, Furrowed, rich reddish brown bark
➢ Flowers and Fruit — Inconspicuous whitish flowers,
tiny capsules
➢ Best Feature — Graceful, weeping garden or street
