APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion by Commissioner Skoro to approve the minutes of August 3, 1999. Motion carried
by the following vote:

Noes:

Items removed from Consent Calendar
2. Park Ft Trees Division - Director Niederhaus reported that "rustic" benches had been
installed at Castaways with Councilmember Glover's approval. Chair Beek stated that
she would draft a memo to the Arts Commission informing them of the addition. The
benches have been accepted well by the public.
Motion bV Commissioner Skoro to accept items 1 - 4 on the Consent Calendar. Motion
carried by the following vote:

DISCUSSION ITEMS
5. Parks. Beaches and Recreation Commission Decisions - Chair Beek reviewed the ,revised
City Council Policy 1 -27 with the commissioners and stated that it would be an item on
the City Council agenda on September 13.
Motion by Commissioner Sinclair to forward revised City Policy 1 -27 to City Council for
their approval. Motion carried by the following vote:

6. Facility Inspections - Chair Beek stated that she would like to receive feedback from
the staff on the corrections noted by commissioners. Director Niederhaus asked that
commissioners pay particular attention to items that may need capital improvements.
7. Subcommittee Reports
Budget - Nothing to report.
• Community Services Award - Nothing to report.
• Liaison with Oasis - Nothing to report.
Park Et Open Space - Commissioner Skoro stated that he had read that the Library
Board is looking at using the land behind the library for an Arts Et Education Center.
• Beach Preservation - Nothing to report.
• Tree - Director Niederhaus stated that two public meetings will convene on Tuesday,
September 14, 7pm and Wednesday, September 22, 3pm, to discussion designations
of all street trees.
