Diane has made a significant impact on the Recreation Division and the children of Newport Beach through her passion for running. She started a running club at Eastbluff Elementary School in 2oo5 and a NMUSD track meet in 2007. In 2oo8, she partnered with the Recreation Division to merge her meet with the City's Track and Field Meet of Champions. Since then, the City's Championship meet has gone from ioo participants to over 400 — all thanks to Diane's influence. In addition, Diane took over the organization of the school district's Spirit Run two years ago. She created a link between the two events which allowed children to register for both events at the same time, called "Twice the Fun." She has also opened the Spirit Run's post event expo to the Recreation Division to market Camp Newport. Many summer camp contractors join Division staff to offer games and crafts while promoting their summer recreation camp programs. Newport Beach is lucky to have Diane Daruty — and the Recreation division was proud to name her their Volunteer Merit Award winner this year! 001PAC Ha Il a Monitoring of orange County Marine ProtMed Ness nowh:aP.amz sa...uwr. nnamsaarrk,►.r lip ,uruafn mfaifas hvraArttion knMb fvnNn.
