ISSUE: Library staff requests approval of a budget amendment to accept a check from the Newport Beach Public Library Foundation to improve Library Services and Programs. RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Budget Amendment to increase revenue estimates by $156,000.00 in Account No. 4090 -5893 (Library Foundation /NBPLF). Expenditure estimates will be increased by the same amount in Division 4060 (Literacy Services) and Division 4090 (Library Foundation). DISCUSSION: The Newport Beach Public Library Foundation (NBPLF) presented Library Services a check for $156,00.00 on August 5, 2010. A facsimile of the original check will be presented to City Council on September 28, 2010. The check, approved by the Board of Library Trustees on August 17, 2010, is intended to fund areas of need on the Library's Wish List for FY 2010/2011. This gift money will promote Literary Services, enhance training and technology, implement a Blu -ray DVD collection, and provide for physical improvements at branch libraries.
