SUBJECT: Appointment of the Advisory Board of the Newport Beach Restaurant
Association Business Improvement District (NBRA)
RECOMMENDATION:
Confirm the NBRA election of Advisory Board and Executive Board members.
DISCUSSION:
Background:
Under the 1989 BID Law the City Council appoints the Advisory Board. As a matter of
practice the City Council has encouraged each BID to hold elections for its Advisory
Board and then appointed /confirmed those members as the Advisory Board.
The NBRA held its annual election at its annual member luncheon on September 9,
2009. At the subsequent Advisory Board Meeting on September 23, 2009 the
Officers /Executive Committee of the Advisory Board was elected from among the
Advisory Board members. Because the NBRA has between 350 and 400 members at
any given time, NBRA By -Laws allow for an Advisory Board of not less than five (5) and
not more than twenty-five (25).
