Discussion at Council meeting Study Session on
November g, 2010 covered:
o Reasons for a ban — pollution, dust, noise
o Areas to have a ban — Residential, Commercial, Civic properties,
entire City
Types of equipment to ban - all leaf blowers or just gas powered
ones
Having an allowance to have HOA's "Opt -out" of a ban
Leaf Blower Proposed Ordinance
Staff took the direction they heard from Council and have
developed an ordinance that contains;
A citywide ban on gas - powered leaf blowers in residential
areas only
An option for homeowner associations to opt -out of the
citywide ban
A phase -in period of six (6) months before the ban takes
effect
The Ordinance does not;
Apply to electric leaf blowers or vacuums
Apply to Commercial areas, City parks, and medians
