Issues in Newport Harbor
Roughly 4o -6o sea lions spend the summer months in
Newport Harbor. About 10 -15 full time "residents."
H & J mooring fields have the largest populations.
"Haul out" on any
vessel
regardless
of freeboard.
Unprotected
swim
steps
and
docks
are easy targets.
Very territorial. Bark, day and night, keeping the
neighborhoods awake.
Cause damage and to both vessels and docks (oily skin or
white fiberglass, broken swim steps, stanchions and lifelii
etc... )
