Services SYfaintenance 'Worker Chris Auger witnessed a man in dutress in the surf at
IStfi Street; and
1VMEREAS, Chris Auger, a non- safety employee with the City of 'Newport Beach,
with no offcia[4feguardtraining, racedfrom the 6oardwafk across the sandtowards
the surf fine to the victim, who was so tired he could 6are[y stay standing in the impact
zone; and
`Nfl!$sR�EA.S, Chris Auger provided assistance and support to the exhausted victim, as
he and the victim were hit 6y a handfu[of four foot waves while fighting a strung rip
current threatening to puff 6oth rescuer andvictim out to seq� and
WMER9AS, Chris Auger was a6[e to hold the very tiredgent[eman up and help him
into waist deep water, and
4'V PM EAS, Chris Auger was met 6y Lifeguard Lieutenant 'Mitch 'White, who
assisted Chris in 6ringing the victim to shore; and
1,WE`1MAS Chris Auger saved the fife of the swimmer who, after treatment, was
released in good condtion.
