HomeMy WebLinkAbout04 - Street Sweeping on Hilaria and Patrice RoadNovember 9, 1998 CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM NO. 4 TO: MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: TRAFFIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE SUBJECT: STREET SWEEPING ON HILARIA WAY AND PATRICE ROAD RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution No. 98 - establishing NO PARKING restrictions for street sweeping from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Hilaria Way and Patrice Road. DISCUSSION: Residents on Hilaria Way and Patrice Road have requested help from the Traffic Affairs Committee to solve their parking problems that are primarily due to the employees of the Park Lido Medical building parking on the public streets instead of the parking structure on site. Employees park in the street to avoid the cost of parking in the structure. The high demand for parking in this area has prevented the street sweeper from getting to the gutters to do a reasonable job of cleaning these streets. The Traffic Affairs Committee agrees that it is desirable to restrict parking on Hilaria Way and Patrice Road in order to facilitate the City's street sweeping program. WHEREAS, Section 12.44.150 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code provides that the City Council shall by Resolution designate streets or portions of streets on which the parking or standing of vehicles is to be prohibited. The City Council shall designate in the Resolution the days of the week and the exact hours during which such prohibition shall be in effect; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is reasonable and in the public interest to prohibit parking of vehicles at certain times and in certain areas of the City in order to effectively operate the City street sweeping program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach that parking of vehicles shall be prohibited between the hours of 8:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. on the following days and in the
