RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. Adopt Resolution No. 98- Limiting the parking of vehicles on certain streets and rescinding Resolution No. 98 -29. 2. Introduce Ordinance No. Revising Preferential Parking Zone "2" - Newport Heights and Cliff Haven and rescinding Ordinance No 97 -28. DISCUSSION: The Traffic Affairs Committee (TAC) reviewed a request from the owner of the Laurelhurst Apartments at 1601 and 1801 15'h Street to expand the limits of the two -hour parking zone in front of his apartments. A number of streets in the Cliff Haven area have two -hour parking limits from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on school days to address the issue of Newport Harbor High School students parking throughout the neighborhood. The property owner stated that with the number of events taking place at the school, parking for his tenants is difficult. Existing Resolution No. 98 -29 designates a two -hour parking limit on the south side of 151h Street from 210 feet east of Irvine Avenue to 310 feet east of Irvine Avenue. These limits include the frontage of the Laurelhurst apartments at 1801 15'h Street. The Committee recommends expanding the limits of the preferential parking zone to also include the frontage of the Laurelhurst apartments at 1601 15'h Street. The Residential Parking Permit Program Zone "2" limits on the south side of 151h Street will be revised to include the apartments at 1601 15th Street. See the attached exhibit. AN —ORDW NCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPOR CH AMENDING SECTION 12.68.060 OF THE NEWPORT CH MUNICIPAL CODE TO ESTABLISH A RESIDENTI L PARKING PERMIT PROGRAM FOR PORTIONS OF NEWPORT HEIGHTS AND CLIFF HAVEN. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Section 12.68.060 B. of the Newport Beach Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: 12.68.060 B. Signal Road 15th Street southerly to and including 418 on the east side and 419 on the west side of Signal Road. Snug Harbor Road Clay Street southerly to and including 400 on the east side and 401 on the west side of Snug Harbor Road.
