HomeMy WebLinkAboutSS3 - AB 109 DraftPublic Safety Realignment Act (AB109): (PSRA) was Legislature Safety passed Realignment Act by the California as a means to comply with an order by the United States Supreme Court to limit prison populations to 137.5 % of their design capacity. Implementation of the Public Safety Realignment Act went into effect on October 1St, 2011. Public Safety Realignment Act (AB109): • It is estimated that 3,434 additional offenders will be supervised or incarcerated in Orange County as a result of the PSRA. C] Public Safety Realignment Act (AB109): Based on this estimate, approximately 25 million dollars has been allocated by the State to fund the PSRA in Orange County. Only $ 694,000 has been designated for Orange County Municipal Law Enforcement r Public Safety Realignment Act (AB109): • In addition to the transfer of responsibility for inmates, the PSRA also allows for relaxed sentencing guidelines and creative sentencing to reduce the numbers of offenders that are actually incarcerated.
