TITLE: Cultural Arts Activities for September 2014
The Sculpture at the Civic Center Park Exhibition officially opened on Saturday, September 13. There
was a good turnout with a full house for the presentation in the Community Room. Five of the artists
attended the opening, some at considerable distance. Ivan McLean from Portland, Oregon, Curt Brill
from Arizona, Matt Babcock from Seattle, Washington and Gerardo Hacer and David Buckingham from
Los Angeles. Arts Commissioner Robert Smith gave an overview of the project and introduced speakers,
Mayor Rush Hill and Mayor Pro-Tem Ed Selich.
Popular Eagles tribute band “Desperado”performed on the Civic Green on Sunday, September 7th.
Attendence was estimated at over 2,000. The crowds gathered to hear the greatest hits of the Eagles in
the grand finale of the 2014 Concerts on the Green series
During September, Former Arts Commissioner Michaell Magrutsche’s art has been on display in the
Central Library lobby.
