Mr. Strombotne, whose work was also displayed in Central Library during the summer of 2014, is exhibiting both paintings and small scale sculpture in the Central Library gallery. His paintings can be found in the permanent collections of museums across the United States, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Hirshhorn Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Art Institute of Chicago. His work is also included in many well-known private collections, most notably the Jack Nicholson collection, which includes twenty of Strombotne's major pieces. Concert on the Green: On Sunday, June 7th, Stone Soul provided 90 minutes of classic soul music on the Civic Green. The concert was enjoyed by over 2,000 attendees. 2015 Newport Beach Art Exhibition and Sale: On Saturday, June 13, the City Arts Commission hosted the 51st annual Newport Beach Art Exhibition and Sale. The event was well attended. Award winners include:  Painting/Mixed Media Third Place: Untitled by Salli Hosseini  Painting/Mixed Media Second Place: “Never Ending Paradise” by Jessica Cardelucci  Painting/Mixed Media First Place: “Echo Park Views” by Victor Santoyo  Sculpture Third Place: “In Tune” by Judit Laufer  Sculpture Second Place: “Gallery Gustav-Klimt” by Grace Park  Sculpture First Place: “Opulence” by Steven Lustig  Photography Third Place: “Pathway to Light” by Aron Kearney  Photography Second Place: “Scrap (Water)” by Dani Sanchez-Lopez  Photography First Place: “Palm Trees #4” by Nick Carver  Juror’s Choice “Little Lost Boy in the Corn Field” by Caroline Miller  People’s Choice “Flying Beauty” by Basar Simsek Ben Carlson memorial: At their June 23 regular meeting, City Council approved the City Arts Commission recommendation to accept the Ben Carlson memorial sculpture into the City art inventory and to place the finished work at the base of the Newport Pier.
