TITLE: Cultural Arts Activities for December 2015
The Nutcracker: On December 5, 2015, the City Arts Commission presented the Festival Ballet’s
interpretation of The Nutcracker. The Nutcracker has become a City Arts Commission holiday tradition.
Festival Ballet Theatre’s production of 2 performances featured superb colorful sceneries and dazzling
costumes, and truly engaged the nearly 400 attendees. This abridged production, designed to appeal to
younger audiences, is choreographed and directed by Festival Ballet Theatre’s Artistic Director Salwa
Rizkalla, and features a cast of professional dancers and local children.
Exhibitions at Central Library: Charlotte "Charlie" Lerner has been an artist in Newport Beach for many
years. Watercolor is her medium of choice. Charlie states, "The freedom of the water with the stain of
color on paper made of cloth… sets this medium apart from any other… I bring the nature I so love to my
art in this free and uncontrolled form of painting." Charlotte’s art was on display at Central Library from
December 7, 2015 to January 4, 2016.
Upcoming exhibitions at Central Library include:
January 2016: Judit Laufer (sculpture)
