Existing Peninsula Public Transportation Options:
OCTA Bus Routes: Routes 71 and 47.
•Regularly Scheduled Fee Based Service
“Downtowner”: Low Speed Street Vehicles (35 mph or less).
•Travel between Balboa Village, Lido Village & West Newport.
•Free service. 11 am – 11 pm, 7 days a week.
Uber/Lyft/Taxi Ride Services:
•“Hailed” On-Demand Fee Service
Bicycles & Walking:
•Free using Public Streets & Oceanfront Boardwalk.
Proposed Shuttle Service:
•City Application Currently into OCTA for Review.
•Proposed Operations for Summer Weekends.
•Free Service – Funded by a combination of City & OCTA Funds.
Current and Proposed Bus Routes on Peninsula:
Route 71
Travels (from Yorba Linda) along Newport Boulevard
ending at Balboa Pier.
OCTA proposes to terminate this route at Triangle
Square in Costa Mesa.
Route 47
Travels (from Fullerton) along Balboa Boulevard
ending at Newport Pier.
Originally No changes proposed.
OCTA Proposed modified to Bus 360 Plan would be to
extend Route 47 from 23rd Street down to Balboa
Village.
Route 71
Route 47
