HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-03-21 - BLT - 07 Corona del Mar Branch Project Update___________________________________________________________________________________ DISCUSSION: Library staff is preparing to close the branch in August 2016. Construction of the new facility should commence in September 2016. A “closing the CDM Branch” committee is preparing for the transfer/storage of collections, computer equipment, and furniture. The Friends of the Library are planning to hold a sale at the branch in of items that will not be kept in storage or integrated into the collections at other branches. The Library Foundation has received gifts from the community totaling $65,000 allocated for the new Branch facility. Library staff has been working in conjunction with Public Works and WLC Architects on the functional layout of the Branch and technological requirements of the Circulation Desk. During the closure period, children’s programming will be provided at the Community Youth Center at Grant Howald Park. Concierge service will be maintained at OASIS during the closure so residents can pick up their holds and return items. Staff has requested that the book drop remain at the CDM Branch site during the closure for the convenience of our customers and for continuity purposes.
