Hello Dave! You may wish to pass this along? Dear Council Members, I remain enthusiastic about being
considered for the opening on the City Arts Commission. Please note that, since your recent review of my
application, I have familiarized myself with each of the sculptures in The Newport Beach Sculpture Garden as
well as the artists who created them; led a happy group on a "docent tour" of the Garden and assisted the
Foundation in connection with the Art in the Park event. I have participated at the meetings of the Foundation
during the course of the past year. I ask for your vote. Yours truly, Lesley Miller

Subject: Planning Commission appointments
Dear Honorable Mayor and City Council,
I am writing to support the appointment to the Planning Commission of Debbie Stevens, who was
once again passed over by the nomination committee despite being an eminently qualified candidate
and long-term resident with a history of actively participating in and serving our community.
Her CEQA expertise and service on EQAC and the CDMRA would obviously be extremely beneficial
to all of Newport Beach.
Also, having a seat for an environmental consultant on a developer -dominated commission would
certainly be a way to create some balance and help restore residents' faith in the planning process.
Lastly, given the attempt that has been made this year to encourage Newport Beach women to apply
for positions with the City, appointing Ms. Stevens would send a very clear message that highly
qualified long-term residents with directly relevant experience should indeed bother to apply.
Thank you for your consideration,
Jennifer McDonald
