When it comes to water conservation, the
Hermosa Beach City Council has ventured to bet
that its citizens are the champs.
To prove R, the council unanimously decided in a
meeting Tuesday night to participate in next
month's Wyland Foundation's Water
Conservation Challenge, which asks Southern
Californians to pledge online to reduce water
waste and pollution.
By pledging, residents agree to take certain
measures to reduce water usage in their homes,
such as taking shorter showers or not watering
their gardens as often.

We Must Move Swiftly to Combat the Dancing Lobster
Menace
Humor columnist proposes quick, decisive action against a mayors crustacean army.

In this time of national crisis, I urge our leaders
to respond quickly and decisively.
We must combat the dancing lobster menace
on every front.
I'm sure you've all seen the video.
That's right. The mayor of Redondo Beach has
threatened to use his army of dancing lobsters if
his citizens —nay the world — decide not to
conserve water.
Mission Viejo Mayor Dave Leckness issued a
similar water conservation challenge, thankfully
without resorting to crustacean intimidation.
Scientists are unsure how Redondo Mayor Mike
Gin controls the massive creatures, but they say
that the monsters "can perform any number of
dance moves."
