A year--or more-of scientifi~ resea.rdl in Alaska is in store for Professor and Mrs. George Mac- , Ginitie of Corona del Mar. Prof. MacGinit1e has been grant- ed a year's leave by the California PERSONALITIES of t"e Week " Institute of Technology, tor which he 15 director of the K erckhoff Ma- nne Laboratory here in China Cove. He will be scientific director at the Arctic ReSC'arch Laboratory for the Office or Naval Research. Mrs. MacGinitie will be his re- search assistant. Point Barrow is their destina- tion in Alaska (or mort' accurate- ly, a location midway between Point Barrow and th~ native Bar- row Village). It wiJl be a repeat trip for them both. Tiley went to Alaska last year-from JuJy 10 to Oct. 7-for the Office of Naval Research, to conduct a survey of marine animals. They will con· tinue this same type of work on this second trip.
