To the degree that the Biblical concept of property Is respected in a given society, starvation Is abolished and living stand- ards rise. To the degree that these property rights are denied and forbidden (as In the socialist countries) depressed economies, poor living standards, politi- cal-economic tyrannies and exploited people are to be found." (From a Santa Ana Register column by Howard Kershner and Edward Rowe.) • * * • TUNNEY TELLS HIS PREFERENCE Senator Jolm Tunney of CalUornla speaks plainly about whom he llkes and whom he opposes. He was quoted in a Feb. 20 UPl news dispatch as calling tor a program of foreign aid to communist China and stating further: "1 would rather give $200,000,000to mainland (communist) China than give the same amount to the Greek military junta." Our senator wants to give our money to a communist tyranny whose hands are blood red with the lives of victims that number a frightful total of 30 or 40 MILLION, or more, including thousands of our own boys who have died In Korea and Vietnam. He has voted agalnst ald for Greece, which has committed the unpardonable sin of being anti-communist. • • • • GOD'S LAW "UNCONSTITUTIONAL" There are several key issues that separate the men from the boys --the conservatives from the liberals. One of these Issues Is capital punishment, which our liberal CalUornla Supreme Court has just ruled unconstitutional. This decision by the Supreme Court is being hailed by those who do not understand the basic issue and those who show compassion for the criminal rather than for the victim. Conservatives are sharply crlti· clzing the decision because they recognize the need for punishment to fit the crime in order to maintain the security and safety of law abiding citizens. For those who know the Bible and accept It as their guide in dally living, the Issue Is settled by command of God Hlmseli. Genesis 9:6 records these words: "Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the Image of God made he man." Human government was established by God to carry out His laws, including this one, which has never been revoked. • • • 'Liz Borden revisited' be flied aomlD&tkiD PIPIH ........ -·lbOnllll(-- .... al -,Feb. 3, Ht Ia rlllllllq aplul JOiliiSiortull D.. It i8 «•nerally believed by studenta of prophetic revelation that the evenb!J of the Great TribulaOon will take plaoe durinc Daniel'1 Seventieth Week of IM!'Wn yean which will trarupire between the Rapture and the Revelation. It will not take place until after the Rapture, and it must take place before Hia Revela- tion in power and gre~~t l(lory: for we read iD Matt. 24:29, 30 that "Immediately after the tribulation of thoee days ahall the SUb be darkened, and the moon 1hall not !five her lilht. and the stan shall fall from heaven, and the powen of the heaven~ lhalJ be lhalten: and then lhaU a ppear the aim of the Son of man: and then aha.ll all the tribes of the earth moum, and they ahall see the Son of man cominlf in the doude of heaven with power and rreat d ory." "'THE GREAT TRlBULATION" i8 the pr-ecile term uaed in the Book of the Revelatioa, where it il writte:D that one of the elden satd unto John concemiD1; an innumerable company, different from the raptured uinta and the aealed of the twelve tribes of Urael, '"''hese are they whlch come up out of the Great Tribulation" (Rev. 7:14, R V.). It i8 not menly an eiperience. but apecifica11y a period of time, an e ra in which the eiperiencee o f thoae upon whom it -will come can IICB.rcely be deecribed by human toncue. It will be a time of unpreoedented. and almoet unthinkable tribulation 1uch as hal never been nor ever lhall be ... And there ahall be a time of trouble, 1uch aa never wa1 since there wu a nation even to the II8JilfJ time" (Dan. 12:1). "For there ahall be rreat tribulation. web as was not •iDee the belrinning of the world W thil time, no, nor ever ahall be" (Matt. 24:21). ''That day il ~~ AO that none illike it: it ia even the time of Jacob'• trouble" (Jer. 30:7). Such Scriptunltl u theae cannot be mistmdenlood. They declant that there can be only one mch time, for if a time is ., unique ln nature that there has never been IUch a time nor ever ahall be aftenltlll'd, tbere can be but -aach time: hence, the rreat !ribulation il a definite. ~lc period of time, and unique in that it ia unequaled lJl nature- If Death Calls .... ? The devil has opposed at every turn in God's divine road preparation for man's redemption. Yet Christ eternally has won the victory over this evil foe. Perhaps this is never so dearly seen as in the case of the anti- Chris!, Sata n's monumental coun- terfeit. Our study for today is based on Revelation 19 :11-21. With the removal of the Church at the Rapture the devil will see k to enthrone his own emissa ry of evil dominion. The restraint he has experienced will now be gone. He will bring forth "the lawless one" who will show all power and signs of lying wonders (II Thessalonians 2: 1·12). These dramatic moments of defiance toward God will take place during the seven yea r Tribu- lation. This immediately follows the removal of the Church, the Bride o f Christ, from this world. The an- ti-Chris! will seek to destroy the nation o f Israel which will even- tually bring a blessing to all nations of the world during the m illennium. Hiller sought to do this in Europe during World War II . Six million Jews were put to death. You see, without the nation of Israel there could be no Messianic King of judgment. This stooge of the devil will suc- cessively and successfully deceive both apostate Israel and the other nations of the world on his path- way toward total dictatorship. He will unveil his intentions when he demands worship as though he were Cod (Matthew 24:15). All men will be required to receive the mark of the beast as a sign of alle- giance to "the man of sin." That is, unless they are numbered among those whom Cod has sealed from all harm. People will face death by execution or starvation if they refuse the mark of the beast. The last 42 months of that seven years unprecedented persecution will come upon Israel (Matthew 24:15- 26 : Revelalion 12:12-17). The anti·Chri ~t will be permitted to assemble huge forces agai nst Israel with the greatest military strenglh this world ha s ever known. This is yet to come in the future and will be known as the battle of Armageddon. I w ill gather ali na- tions against Jeru sa lem" (Zechariah 14,1-3). It is God's will that Israel should pass through further terrible judg- ment. Kings will be convinced that they can fight and win against God 's chosen people. Zechariah says that the city of Jerusalem shall be taken with the ho uses rifled and the women ravished. The evil victors will have no respect for lift!' or property. The nations will feel so secure that they do not even hurry to divide up their spoil. Yet, God will answer the prayer of His people. This will be the day of Messiah's revelation. He will re- turn physically, bodily and visibly to set up His kingdom over this world. His rule will be for a thou-. sand perfect years. ''The Day of the lord" is an in- teresting expression. It Is the pe- riod of time which begins after the Church is taken out of this world and extends through the kingdom age. It Is in the future and Is prophetic. As Jerusalem is bein& spoiled, the Lord Jesus Chriot re- turns With all His saints. "His feet shall stand upon the Mount of Olives." This will be a my of voices, thunders and ll&htnlnp (Revelo· tion 16:18).
