We are seeing 1t here 1n our own city, with the passion for rezoning and for restriction of de- velopment. We have seen 1t with a ven- geance 1n our state, with the approval of the coastline control proposltlon. New restrictions are being plotted dally. Each move tightens the noose of government control around our collective neckS. In- dividual rights are being trampled -- and the tragedy 1JI that very few seem to care; or dare to protest. As for me, I'll take smog over slavery. I'll take population over poverty. The smog problem we can solve as free men. Population we can handle --many fold more than we have at the moment. But history shows that totalitarian govern- ment brings both slavery and poverty.
