• WHAT OF THE HINSHAW CASE?
Andy Hinshaw, who in his congres-
sional campaigning days was thunder-
ously silent about his former member-
ship in the John Birch Society, is now
equally silent about the storm of scandal
that is em inously gathering over his
head. Likewise, hts generally voluble
public relations expert, Chip Cleary,
is about as effusive concerning the
Hinshaw case as silent Cal Coolidge
would have been at a ladies sewing
bee.
Mr. Cleary, who now, appropriately,
seems to have a chip on his shoulder~
has surfaced only ooce, and that was
to castigate his one-time favorite news
medium, the Daily Pilot, for doing its
journalistic duty, which is to try to
track down elusive Andy and evasive
Cleary for some answers to the many
puzzling and intriguing angles to the
Hinshaw story.
Ancly has, so far, escaped the harsh
fourth estate wrath that so effectively
lashed out at the man he originally de-
feated for the U. S. congressional job.

Bible teaches. Recognized scholars
who have worked extensively in
the area about which you have

gradation of sin. One is just as

tery. Christ can be touched with

I've been getting a few calls asking me "what do you think of Nixon now?" They
remind me that I once called Nixon "the champ."
Now, I enjoy hearing from people, and I'm certainly not ashamed of my opinions,
so here goes.
I stUl tblnk Nixon is the champ. Here are a few reasons:
He tried to win the war 1n Vietnam, and would have, if he had been given the
chance by our yellow-bellied Democrat Congress.
When It became apparent Congress didn't want to win, he said he would get our
troops out of Vietnam. He did.
He promised to stop tbe draft. And he did.
The things that the American people wanted their president to do were done by
Mr. Nixon.
So, what happened? The hypocrtttcal Congress, the hypocritical TV announcers,
and yes, even the hypocritical American people turned on him. Why? Because he
had a corrupt admlnlstration? No. There has been absolutely no evidence of that.
What was his crime then? I'll ten' you. Instead of hiring professional political
hatchet men, such as the Democrats of Chicago, New York, the sunny South and
other places have done, he went to Washington wlth a bunch of amateurs who were
too dedicated to tbetr own purposes. They let him down. They didn't protect him
from the political wolves.
But, I want to thank I_Uchard Nixon, anyway, for his biggest gift to America -
he saved the country frorri George McGovern, the guy who wanted to buy the election
for $1,000 per vote.
The Democrats were out to turn this country into a one-party system, )Jst like
the old South used to be. It's beginning to look Uke they have been successful.
The president is now powerless. The Congress has emasculated every president
since Roosevelt. How can we run the country this way?
Okay, since Contress ts so all-powerful and smart, I have an idea for solving
the Vietnam mess. Take every Congressman who has been in Wasblngton stoce
we first got into Vietnam, load them all on one or those planes go~ over to plck
up orphans, and drop them rtght 1n the middle of Vietoam. They got us ln, then
threw away 50,000 American lives and God knows how many Vietnamese, tben
wouldn't let our boys wtn. Flne, let them have lt oow. Maybe a few of those yo-yo's
wouldn't come back. We would be better ott. What we have oow .ln Wasblngtoo ts
about 535 people from allldnds of backgrounds, arguing, stallln&, drl.nklng, pollttck-
tng and getting 1n tbe way of the president. Until we get tbe power bala.oced aptn -
haU Democrat and liaU RepubUcan, that's the way it's gotng to be.
We should elect ooe Republican Senator and ooe Democrat from each state.
Limit them one term of 6 years, and no peoatoo. Maybe then we could return to
betng tbe t1nd of country our DeclaraUoo of lDdepeodeoce and ConsUbJt-'Pn said

Maybe then we WOUld deaerve another President Ulte Tbe Champ.
