Both are highly controversial and decisions may affect the tuture growth of the-community for the next 25 years. The issues are so Involved and so full ol factual detail and opinion, that It will and should re- quire caretuJ thinking to de- f.ermine which Is the best course to follow. We all are agreed that water Is the life blood or the community. but we are not all .atisfled as to how and where it is and what to do t<Y guarantee an abundant supply, MWD Is an expensive procedure and its proponents say it is the only way; wells are not so costly and Its adherents claim there is sufficient underground flow to give us sufficient. Both schools of thought have merit. What to do! What to do!! + + + The M....._ Most Mesa residents favor incorpora- tion. At least that Is my personal poll result. Only troubl~ with the civic leaders Is their hesitancy to do any· thing about It. It's hard to get people out to meetings and those that come rarely say anything, which doesn't answer anything. Some want annexation to N e w po r t Beach. but they are fewer than the other side. and ei- ther p r o j e c t requires a lengthy legal process. In the meanttrne the tol\'ll Is grow- ing, one might say, almost like Topsy. and ma ny prob- lems confront the sincere well wishers of the commun- ity. Beachites, in many in- stances, favor annexing t_er- ritory to 15th street. havmg amended the first idea of going to 17th street. What a fness of civic headaches! + + + Iowa Corn. On display in the News-Times office is a batch of Iowa com from the farm of Guy Miller. brother- in-law of Mrs. Meyer. It is full • bodied. of u n u s u a I weight and length. a nd runs more than 100 bushels to the acre. In the same package ls some nifty poi>-com with extra large kernels that flit all over the landscape when placed in contact with a gas flame. You old Iowans or mldwest tillers of the soil should come in and get a gander of some real com that Rel&tlve Miller unblush· ingly says has Uttle equal In the Hawkeye state. ' + + + Face urun,:. Famous General Presents Medal Posthumously to Japanese-American Family for Gallan- try of Son "We are gathered here to see tha t the war won on the battlefield is not Jost here at home." Those were the words of Harry W. Flannery, noted radio commentator, who acted as master of ceremonies at the "All-America Day'" rally for ra- cial tolerance at the Santa Ana bowl Saturday afternoon. Almost 3000 spectators wit· nessed the program which was highlighted by the spectacular en· tnuice ol General Jooeph W.
