Out then again it v.ould cause a problem of the In the line Of duty I am writing with regards to the Daily Pilot article (July 5) regarding the success of the police in keeping the problems in our city to a minimum compared to last year. The article stated that in addition to the Newpon police working 12·hour shifts, some ou~idc help was also brought in. This I find interesting in light or the fact that on the 4\h of July at approximately 3:30 p.m. six of Newport's finest had the time to chat and have their picture t:ikcn with a bikin1·clad young lady on the boardwalk between 27th and 28th street. A seventh officer, ll.howing some restraint. stood on the side lines watching. Could it be that \\C did not need all those reinforcements? Jn my humble opinion, it v.ould have been wise r and mol'c cost effective fo r the six officers to h:ive shown some discretion and performed the job they were being paid 10 do.
