the creation o( the endowed Irving H.
Leopold Chair of OphthalmolOI)' at
UCI. was a 19-yeJr resident or New·
p<>rt ikacb. He also beaded the med-
ical affairs division of Allergan lnc.,
an l.rvine·based eye care c:om_p:iny, for
15 years until his retirement m 1988.
Born in Philadelphia, Dr. Leopold
