eliminating 14 po itions from
the General Services
Department, including three
employees whose primary
responsibility was removing
graffiti.
Bonanza has contracts for
graffiti removal in four South
Orange County cities. The
company uses hcnvy-duty
pressure wnshers to scrub away
the scribbles made by paint
and markers.
General Services Direcror

has the ability to remove
graffiu etched in glass, such as
the carvings found on the
Plexiglas p3nels in West
Newport along Co"hSt Highway.
Taggers cost the city about
S6U,000 per year to remove
their marks, the General
Services Department estimated
Jnd expects savings by paying
Bonanza to provide its service
on an a~·needed basis.
While the city always has
removed graffiti from public
property, the council passed an
ordinance an June that gives
the city the right to remove
graffiti from private property as
well
The ordinance also mandates
that graff1t1 be removed within

postponed voting on whether to

Residents of the
condominiums have
complained about noise in the
hue evening. city officials said.

Beach wanted for an armed robbery in Orange Tuesday. A
