Mr. Johnson, a Costa Mesa resident ,
was a member of .U\e Philadelphia
Opera Ballet for two years after
graduation .from high Khool in 1978.
He performed and toured wi1h Lotte
Goslar's Pantomime Circus in New
York, apprenticed with the Dance
Theatre or Harlem and performed with
the Third Company of Alvin Ailey's
American Dance Theater and Opera
Pacific.
Born in Charles1on, S.C., 1'.ir.
JohMOn grew up on Army b3SCS in
Texas.,. Oklahoma and Alaska. His
father was a veteran of Korea and
Vietnam. At age IS, he began studying
ballet at the Academy of Classical
Ballet in Anc:horagc where his
performance career began.
He returned to Anchorage in 1983.
where he lauaht ballet at Anchorage Comm~nity College and ronducted a
series of summer dance workshops. Mr.
Johnson also choreographed for the
Anchorage Opera and other arts
organizations and pcr!ormed with the
Alaska Contemporary Dance Company

will be held at his Costa Mesa home
