"There are some volunteers that are waiting to get the 250 sig- natures we need,· said de Boom. According to the state's Educa- tion Code, de Boom needs 250 signatures from district registered voters to compel the county com- mittee on school district organiza- tion to hold a public hearing on the matter. "In my opinion .. there are some obstacles to overcome (when .re- drawing b9undaries). I don't see • the benefit down the road, ... he said. The benefit, according to de Boom, is an increase in dlcilogue al'!d com~tition during the elec- tions. De Boom ran unopposed in tus area in 1992 while Stokes bitd three competitors in 1994. "When y<ru look at the situa- tion now, there really are some extreme situations,• Decker sals:l. "I think there probably are ways to have this thing looked at. "We want to get it done before the election," he said. According to the state Education Code, the boundaries must be redrawn at least 120 days before the next election. §tart Law School August 23rd!
