By Carolyn Miller, Daily Pilot wFsT SIDE -The last of seven gang members suspected in the tril- ogy of violept crimes on Shalimar Drive one year ago that compelled adults to duck under windows and children to cower beneath beds, were sentenced Monday to several years in state prison. This last stage of justice brings · to a close the crimes of retaliation that exploded last May between two Costa Mesa gangs. The crimes began May 6, 1995 with a stabbing, followed by a drive-by shooting May 16, and ending with an assault on May 17, according to Costa Mesa police reports. Pete Wilson to spend $127 million to strengthen public school's instruction of phonics and spelling received praises Tuesday from Newport-Mesa Urufied School District offiaals.
