An apparently disgruntled former city employee reportedly opened fire on Riverside City Council members just before 8 a.m. Tuesday, wounding the mayor and two council members. The council was gathering in a small conference room next to the City Coun- cil chambers before its regular meebng. 1Wo police officers, who rushed to the scene from their office just blocks away, were also injured m the shooting. Volunteers needed to make blankets for children The second Bink-A-Thon, m wluch volunteers will help make bldnkets for children in need, will be held Saturday. The event is sponsored by Binky Patrol, a nonprofit organization that makes blankets for children who are ill, abused, in foster care, or are experienc- ing trauma. Volunteers are needed for Saturday's event. Both programs are working to re build with a young nucleus. so the match became more of a bench-mark to see how far along both are as the league season opens. Costa Mesa dppears to be in better shape, cruising to a 15-8, 15-9, 15-5, victory over the visit- ing Eagles. The Mustangs (5·2, 1-0 in league), who have only one senior on the roster, struggled to find a Vollifilil rhythm in the fl.I'St game, but took advantage of Eagle miscues and sohd senring to wm the game.
