As part of the commuruty input workshop for the revital- u ation of the West Side of Costa Mesa, consultants asked resi-• dents where they thought heavy industry could be moved. It is not known how any legis- lation will affect gun shows at California fairgrounds, said Greg Humer, acting director of the Division of Fairs and Expositions. Councilman John Noyes is expressing concern over th~ pr~­ posal to build the oil-change facil- ity in the Mariner's Mile area. Noyes, who said be didn't think the franchise belonged near such a scenic areai said be didn't agree with the Planning Commission's approval of a construction permi~. "That is not the most appropn- ate use of the property,~ Noyes said. Noyes said he was concerned that a Jiffy Lube on West Coast Highway nught hinder develoH- mcnt m the area. He· said that although the applicant has been •helpful,• the area as a whole needs to be considered. He was principal dancer for nine years with Ballet Hispanlco of New York and has been teaching dance for the past four years at Cal State Dominguez Hills. He plans to begin projects at OCC similar to ones be introduced at Dominguez Hills, such as teach- ing dance workshops to local elementary school children.
