COSTA MESA -A new community
gymnasium in Uons Park could take a
step closer to reality Monday night when
the €ity Council is expected to select
one of three sites within the park where

it will be built. withln the park but in different areas.
The envisioned center is a l.C,000-
square-foot gymnasium with attached
offices, meeting rooms, storage areas,
restrooms, outdoor wall(ways and land-
scaping.
Several community groups already
have said which ones they prefer.
The Planning Commission and the
Advisory Commfttee of Teens have rec-
bmmended putting the new center next
to the existing Neighborhood Communi-
ty Center and fountain area in the center
of the park.
City officials already have allocated
$153,000 in federal grants they received
toward the project, and they are now
ready to hire a company to design it.
Construction is expected to begin in
September and be finished by May
1999, according to a staff report.

COSTA MESA -A Costa Mesa man was
arrested Fnday afternoon on susp1aon of selling
drugs and using two 13-year old local boys to
deliver them, police saiq
The accused dealer, 29-year-old Hugo Gerardo
Camacho Espejel. who goes by the street name
·Felipe,• was booked after police served a search
warrant around 1.10 p m. at tus Maple Street
apartment, said Costa Mesa pobce Sgt Loren
Wyrick.
Police seized 1 112 pounds of marijuana, 57
grams of cocaine, and about $1,800 cash, Wyrick
said. Police caught Espejel trying to throw some ~r
