By Husein Mashni, Daily Pilot NEWPORT-MESA -Home from his second and last job inter- view in Texas, Superintendent Mac Bernd now is waiting to see if he will be the next superinten- dent of the Arlington Indepen- dent School District. As one of four fina'llsts for the superintendent position, Bernd was interviewed by the Arlington school board Monday. Having been to Arlington a week earlier for an exploratory interview, Bernd reteived acco- lades from community members who rated him as their favorite of eight candidates for the job. Fri- day, the school board narrowed the playing field to four candi- dates, includ- ing Bernd. In another matter, the roundl on Monday night gave a new youth baseball league permission to play ball for free on city baseball dia- monds.
