I do not bl~ Unda Dixon or Katrina Foley well enough to know if their politics match up with Hilary Ointon, nor if Gary Monahan and Bill Per:ldns are comparable to Colin Powell, but I do know Allan Mansoor, and Folsom's attempt to compare him to Buc;banan is ridicuJous. Could Folsom be friends with members of the Human Relations Committee? You know, the group that promoted the "Orange County Dyke March" parade through Costa Mesa streets and suggested the city pay for it by waiving their rees. That group is so ultra-liberal that even a relative moderate like Mansoor looked lilce an extremist. CAROL A. H1rpar Daily Pilot He is young. he is still ln scbooL he rents and he is ready to lead the city. Planning Commissioner and City Council candidate Bill Per- kins pays no mind to those who call him green, saying he feels fortunate to have reallud his passion for city government sooner rather than later. "I am where everybody else was 30 years ago and that is nothing to be ashamed of," Per- kins said. "Just because I am young and want to get Involved should not be seen as a bad thing," Perkins said he can bring a fresh attitude to the council that has been lacking in previous years. His youth and optimism bring a mind-set of compromise and tolerance to the dais, while incorporating a ualous drive for success, he said. The council hopeful has al- ready garnered a seat on the Planning Commission, which he said gives him invaluable knowl- edge of city workings and poli- tics.
