Prosecutors say Greg 1 laidl, son of Orange County Assistant Sheriff Don Haldi. Kyle Nachreiner and Keith Sprum raped the girl and sexually assaulted her with various objects as she lay pru.sed out on a pool table in the I laid.ls' garage. FYI ON THE AGENDA •WHAT: Newport Beach City Council meeting · Here are a few items the council will consider tonight MARINER•s MILE WALKWAY Plans to build a public walkway along the harbor In Mariner's Mlle have hit a snag: laclc of space. • WHERE: Council Chambers, 3300 Newport Blvd. SMOKING ON THE BEACH •WHEN: 7 p.m. 'Ille City Cowicil will return to an issue that's proved a burning debate in beach.side cities: Banning smoking on the sand. While a study of the idea has proven it's possible, the problem is that because a number of the buildings along Coast Highway are buUt right out to the water, part of the walkway would have to be constructed even farther toward the harbor -where docks now are. However, we also must live with the additional traffic that is "passing through" to get to and from Coast Highway. But it doesn't stop there. In addition to the aforementioned traffic are all the other nonresidential drivers that use 15th as a thoroughfare: the Newport city maintenance vehicles • buses from Newport Harbor High and SL Andrew's, the numerous garbage trucks and FedEx and UPS trucks.
