for a brand new pa.rt at the com er
of Coast Highway and Jamboree

The park will be ready in Octo-
ber 2005 along with an atrordable-
housing complex for seniors in
the same lot. owned by the Irvine
Co .• said Marie Knight. the city's
Recreation and Senior Services di-
rector.
The park will be above the
homes. she said.
"It's really not meant to be a
pa.rt with active programming.·
Knight said. "It has a beautiful

It all depends on how you
feel, says Newport Beach
entrepreneur Amy Webb.
who started Stroller Stride!>, a
group exercise class for

place at Bonita Canyon

The moms push their
stroUers, which can be quite

instructor Kim TremouJet.
"Some of those strollers
could weigh as much as 100
pounds depending on how
heavy the child is,· she said.
"Some moms are pushing
two children."
The class is a great way for
morns to connect with other
moms and find suppon, said
Tremoulet, who has two
children.
"These are women who
have undergone an ~
interesting, challenging time
of their lives,· she said.

nearly as taxing for Republican
Assemb lyman John Campbell,
who's running for the 35th Dis-
trict Senate seat. as the March
primary WU.
In March. he and primary op-
ponent Ken Maddox. the 68th
Dtst:rict assemblyman. waged a
bitter campaign to be the Repub·
Ucan Party nominee. This cirne
his campaign is relatively low-
key despite having two oppo-
nents.
The largely Republican make-
up of the 35th District makes
Campbell a shoo-in. but the
opening of the seat held by Ir-
vine Sen. Ross Johnson since
1995 still attracted Democrat
Rita Siebert and Libertarian
Timothy Johnson. Neither has
run for partisan office before.
Siebert, 51, was born in New
Yort but has lived in Califomia
since 1963 and now resides In
Fountain Valley. A paralegal for
an Anaheim law firm, Siebert

football. but Costa Mesa High Coach
Tum Baldwin was not ovtrjoyed with
the Mustangs' 25-22 Golden West vic-
tory over Ocean View Friday night.
"It shouldn't have been a come-from-
behind victory," Baldwin said. ·10cean
View) Isn't very good, but I am happy
that we beat them, 25· 7, after (they took
a 15-0 lead.)"
Baldwin said the Mustangs played
well on defense. even on the 67-yard
touchdown run and the 61 -yard touch-
down pass in the first quarter that put
Mesa into the early hole.

ing if it wasn't for those two plays."
Baldwin said. "On that (touchdown)
pass, I thought our safety was going to
pick-it off and run the other way for a
touchdown for us. But it went just over
his fingertips and their guy was gone."
Ocean View racked up 151 yards on
its three scoring plays, including a 23-
yard rushing touchdown that gavr the
Seahawts a 22-9 advantage in the M'l ·
ond quarter. But the Scahawks were
held to 149 yards otherwise.

collegiately at Long Beach
State, USC. Colorado and
Hawaii, respectively.
